Job summary

Cortica is seeking a Lead School Behavior Technician (Full-time) to deliver direct behavior-analytic services in school environments. You will supervise School Behavior Technicians, model best practices, and guide their implementation of intervention strategies aligned with IEPs and educational goals.

The role includes mentoring BTs, coordinating with BCBAs and school teams, and ensuring data quality while maintaining a neurodiversity-affirming approach.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience leading and managing direct reports.
• 1+ years of experience providing ABA services in school or clinical settings.
• Ability to obtain assigned safety training certification within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain BCAT or RBT credential within 30 days where required by the district.
• Must maintain reliable transportation and travel between work sites.
• First aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain.
• Tuberculosis (TB) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct behavior-analytic services to students one-on-one and in group settings in schools.
• Lead by example in implementing BIPs and skill acquisition programs aligned with IEPs.
• Support and mentor school-based BTs, modeling strategies and troubleshooting.
• Substitute in schools to ensure continuity of services and high-quality support.
• Collaborate with BCBAs, educators, and school teams to integrate behavioral strategies.
• Support students' growth in communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and adaptive skills.
• Utilize a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach to service delivery.
• Collect and review data to monitor progress and support BTs in data collection.
• Provide feedback and coaching to BTs as delegated by supervising BCBAs.
• Participate in classroom observations, team meetings, and school-based training sessions.
• Oversee day-to-day administrative supervision of SBTs: performance management, compliance, and scheduling.
• Establish working relationships with direct reports from orientation through employment lifecycle.
• Complete and/or assist audits for administrative time and penalties in California.
• Ensure SBTs meet compliance standards via collaboration with LBTs and site managers.
• Manage EMR systems and Microsoft Office for documentation and communication.
• Maintain accurate session notes, incident reports, and mentoring logs.
• Adhere to school safety protocols and de-escalation techniques.
• Travel between school sites within the designated service area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Cortica is looking for a Full-time Lead Behavior Technician (School-Based) to join its growing team!

The Lead School Behavior Technician provides direct behavior-analytic services to students with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental differences in school settings. In addition to delivering direct student support, the Lead BT serves as the direct supervisor, providing administrative support and performance management for School Behavior Technicians, modeling best practices and offering guidance in the implementation of behavior intervention strategies. This role is essential in ensuring consistent, high-quality, neurodiversity-affirming support for students and school teams.

What will you do?

• Provide direct implementation of behavior-analytic services to students in one-on-one and group settings within school environments.
• Lead by example in implementing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs aligned with students’ IEPs and educational goals.
• Support and mentor school-based BTs by modeling strategies, answering questions, and troubleshooting implementation challenges.
• Substitute in schools as needed to ensure continuity of services and provide high-quality support in the absence of assigned BTs.
• Collaborate with Behavior Analysts, educators, and school teams to integrate behavioral strategies into classroom routines.
• Support students' growth in communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and adaptive skills as appropriate to the school setting.
• Utilize a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach to service delivery.
• Collect and review data to monitor student progress and support BTs in accurate data collection practices.
• Provide feedback and coaching to BTs as delegated by supervising Board Certified Behavior Analysts BCBAs).
• Participate in classroom observations, team meetings, and school-based training sessions; help facilitate training for new BTs.
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and leadership in dynamic school environments. Oversee the day-to-day administrative supervision of school behavior technicians (SBTs) in the areas of performance management, nonclinical administration, clinical accountability, leave of absence and workplace accommodations support, workers’ compensation case support, separation of employment, and time and schedule management.
• Establish working relationship with all direct reports throughout the teammate lifecycle from orientation through employment separation.
• Complete daily administration of SBT time off management, SBT callout management in conjunction with scheduling department, approval of additional indirect time, approval and review of SBT serious incident reports (SIRs), SBT availability changes.
• Complete and/or assist with audits for administrative or indirect time (weekly), meal and rest break penalties – California only (per pay period), unconverted sessions (weekly). Report findings to ABA site manager and work with SBTs to rectify any discrepancies.
• Ensure SBTs have completed all compliance requirements, including required clinical training through collaboration with the site’s lead behavior technician trainers (LBTs). Responsible for ensuring that all SBTs meet compliance standards.
• Responsible for the performance management of SBTs by providing and documenting timely feedback, including synthesizing clinical feedback through collaboration with the Director of School Operations.
• Effectively manage and navigate electronic medical record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office products to ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and communication.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including session notes, incident reports, and mentoring logs as assigned.
• Adhere to all school safety protocols, including proactive behavior supports, de-escalation techniques, and mandated reporting.
• Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and leadership in dynamic school environments.
• Travel between school sites within the designated service area.
• Other duties as assigned.

The base pay range for this opening is $21.91/hr to $29.40/hr. According to your relevant experience, education level, and location, you will receive compensation that fits appropriately within the range.
