Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Lead Battery Storage Engineer to design, build, operate, and maintain high‑capacity storage systems for AI training campuses. Based on-site in Memphis, TN, you will lead a small team and coordinate with OEMs to ensure grid‑forming operation during compute ramp and contingencies.

Travel up to 25% to other sites is expected. You will own architecture, sizing, and controls, drive plant‑level safety cases, and interface with EMS and project teams to deliver reliable energy

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
8+ years in power systems engineering.
4+ years on utility-scale or large commercial and industrial battery energy storage.
Experience with NFPA 855, UL 9540/9540A, IEEE 1547, and IEEE 2800.

Responsibilities

Own the storage fleet as a power plant: architecture, sizing, controls, safety case, and grid‑forming behavior.
Own BESS architecture: pack-to‑MV‑transformer grouping, string composition, and protection.
Translate compute duty cycles into power and energy requirements.
Own the plant controller and EMS: dispatch, state‑of‑charge management, peak shaving.
Direct Design, Commissioning, Ops/Build, Network, Civil, and Program Manager seats on Battery Storage.
