Job summary

Merit Coffee Co. is expanding with a second cafe in Houston and seeks a Lead Barista to help build a high-performing team from day one. You will lead on the bar, ensure exceptional coffee and hospitality, and support opening and closing routines.

Responsibilities include coaching staff, maintaining standards, cleanliness, and smooth workflow, and serving as a go-to resource during shifts as the team grows in Houston.

Qualifications

• Previous barista experience preferred.
• Strong leadership presence and communication skills.
• High attention to detail with pride in craft.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example on bar, delivering exceptional coffee and hospitality.
• Support daily operations including opening/closing procedures.
• Coach and guide baristas on drink quality, speed, and customer experience.
• Help maintain consistency in standards, cleanliness, and workflow.
• Act as a goto resource for the team during shifts.
