Job summary

Farmer’s Fridge is seeking a Lead Back-End Engineer (SE IV) to drive high-quality software for our fridges and cloud services. You will own projects end-to-end, mentor teammates, and shape architecture, with a focus on AI-enabled development and hardware integration.

This hybrid Chicago-based role offers a base salary of $165,000–$180,000 plus performance bonuses and equity, along with a comprehensive benefits package and a strong team culture.

Qualifications

• Has 10+ years of software engineering experience and strong software practices.
• Strong experience with Go or an equivalent language.
• Experience integrating with hardware and third-party device firmware in Linux environments.
• Has AWS cloud experience (a plus).
• Enjoys leveraging LLMs to improve development processes.

Responsibilities

• Own projects end-to-end from design through deployment.
• Tackle complex problems to position the company for long-term success.
• Lead technical architecture discussions and mentor others.
• Review pull requests in a timely manner and elevate engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Product to align on business goals.
