Position Summary:

AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Windsor Locks, CT that is a world leading manufacturer of business aircraft with a global network of service centers. They are committed to building their products with the future in mind – making them reliable and more efficient, while contributing to highly favorable operating costs. They masterfully design private jets and signature moments through an extensive portfolio of innovative products. The facility has received 21 consecutive FAA Diamond Awards and is actively involved in the Hartford community, spearheading programs to create awareness about aviation maintenance among local students and to help close the gender gap in the industry. We are looking for skilled Lead Avionics Technicians to assist with this client's production needs.

The Lead Avionics Technician oversees the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics systems on aircraft.

Essential Functions:

1. Work closely alongside the airframe lead and perform hands-on technician duties.
2. Serve as the sole point of contact for all avionics-related tasks/issues.
3. Streamline priorities related to avionics tasks and act as the main avionics technician.
4. Escalate the need for additional manpower to the supervisor if required to meet project deadlines.
5. Adhere to General Work Requirements.
6. Complete logs, discrepancies, and/or modification notices.
7. Transport aircraft to designated locations.
8. Install test equipment on the aircraft for ground and/or in-flight troubleshooting or FTPs.
9. Remove and install LRUs.
10. Perform avionics and electrical preflight inspections.
11. Remove/replace and repair electrical wiring and harnesses per applicable engineering and modification notices.
12. Assist with setting up Aircraft for Elect and Avionic FTPs to include interior work.
13. Assist with launching and recovering aircraft from flight.
14. Assist with troubleshooting pre/post-flight discrepancies pertaining to avionics and electrical systems.
15. Ensure time compliance equipment, for example, air data computers, communications, standby air speed and altimeters are applicable parts of chapter 14 CFR (FARs).
16. Remove all temporary and protective equipment from aircraft and install final aircraft product equipment.
17. Remove/reinstall aircraft panels in preparation for airworthiness certification inspection and repair post-inspection avionics and electrical system discrepancies as required.
18. Assist with troubleshooting and repairing avionics and electrical systems prior to and after functional tests, which may include performing repairs at the component-level as required.

Requirements:

1. Typically a minimum of 4 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing aircraft electrical and avionics systems, which must include 1 year experience working in production flight.
2. A&P or Repairman certification required.
3. Leadership experience highly desired.
4. Working knowledge of Production Certificate System.
5. Engine run certification for a minimum of 1 current production model.
6. Ability to read and interpret engineering documents.
7. Working knowledge of flight-line ground safety procedures.
8. Ability to differentiate between malfunctioning test equipment versus malfunctioning aircraft system.
9. Ability to operate functional test equipment, for example, navigation testers, air data testers, maintenance computers, and transponders test equipment.
10. Working knowledge of safety and operating procedures for power-on aircraft.
11. Working knowledge of ground support equipment.
12. Working knowledge of aircraft flight principles.
13. Ability to troubleshoot and repair digital and analog systems.
14. Ability to obtain and renew certifications.
15. Ability to recognize potential electrical hazards in order to prevent injury to self or others.
16. Ability to achieve sufficient technical qualifications to acquire product verification certification.
