Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Avionics Lead for 1st shift to lead daily avionics tasks and supervise a crew in a heavy aircraft environment.

The role requires coordinating with supervision for scheduling, maintaining high productivity, and ensuring all maintenance data and procedures are followed. Strong English communication and aviation maintenance experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in heavy aircraft avionics systems.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant license preferred; minimum of an Airframe license or repairman certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assign daily tasks and provide oversight of crew performance.
• Coordinate with the Supervisor/Foreman for scheduling and task assignment.
• Ensure productivity and work quality meets standards.
• Document all identified maintenance discrepancies.
• Perform troubleshooting and determine appropriate maintenance actions.
• Assist crew with interpreting maintenance manuals or SRMs.
• Ensure maintenance actions comply with AMM, SRM, CMMs, WDM, Service Bulletins, EAs, etc.
• Provide on-the-job training and coaching as needed.
• Identify safety deficiencies and support corrective actions.
• Assist Supervisor/Foreman in identifying training needs and assign remedial training.

Job Title: Avionics Lead - 1st Shift

Department: Avionics

Reports To: Avionics Manager, Avionics Supervisors

ORGINIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

The lead reports to the Manager and Supervisors of the department to which the lead is assigned. In the absence of the lead, the Supervisor will appoint qualified replacement to perform these duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Assign daily job tasks. Lead, direct, and provide oversight of the work performance of subordinate crewmembers.
2. Coordinate with the Supervisor/Foreman for the scheduling and assignment of daily job tasks.
3. Ensure that productivity and work quality is satisfactory.
4. Ensure that all identified maintenance discrepancies are documented.
5. Perform troubleshooting. Assist in determining the proper course of maintenance action when a discrepancy is found.
6. Assist subordinate crewmembers with interpreting maintenance manual or SRM instructions.
7. Ensure that all maintenance performed by subordinate crewmembers is in accordance with approved maintenance data, such as the AMM, SRM, CMMs, WDM, Service Bulletins, EAs, etc. Ensure that all maintenance actions performed by subordinate crewmembers are properly documented.
8. Provide OJT as necessary to subordinate crewmembers.
9. Provide oversight of subordinate crewmembers and assist the Supervisor/Foreman in identifying the need for training or remedial training.
10. Assist subordinate crewmembers in the accomplishment of assigned tasks.
11. Assist the Supervisor/Foreman in identifying any safety related deficiencies.
12. Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Foreman.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2+ years of experience in Heavy aircraft avionics systems.
• The demonstrated ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Preferred valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant license, minimum of an Airframe license or repairman certificate.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate; some college and/or technical school.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give verbal and written direction to assigned staff.
