Job summary

TGK Automotive Specialists seeks a Lead Auto Technician to diagnose and repair vehicles, mentor team members, and uphold repair standards in our shop. You will work with dealership and manufacturer guidelines, lead complex repairs, and communicate findings clearly to customers and managers.

Qualified candidates bring automotive technician experience or ASE certifications, valid driver’s license, and the ability to work five days a week, including weekends.

• Must demonstrate proper use of computerized diagnostic equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

Overview

TGK Automotive Specialists – We have been serving our clients with honesty and integrity since 2007. We maintain the highest level of repair and service at a fair price and are devoted to client satisfaction.

Our Lead Auto Technicianseffectively and efficiently diagnosing and repairing customer vehicles while adhering to the MAP guidelines and in accordance with dealership, manufacturers, and company repair standards. Additionally, our lead technicians are leaders thatserve as mentors to motivated team members who continue to strive to improve their skills.

COMPENSATION: up to $150,000 per year, varies upon experience (Flag Pay)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnoses vehicles according to the appropriate level of certifications/experience.
• Performs work as outlined on the Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy
• Performs complex and heavy-duty repairs
• Explains technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include the Store Manager, Service Consultants and/or customers
• Recommends services that are necessary to keep the customer’s vehicle in running condition; properly documents all recommendations in customer file
• Follows all safety procedures and reports any concerns to direct supervisor
• Adheres to Sun Auto’s core values, all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook

Qualifications:

• Previous automotive technician/mechanic experience required
• ASE certifications in lieu of experience
• Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized equipment for diagnostics
• Must have a valid Driver’s license
• Ability to work 5 days per week, weekends included.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

The Lead Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and could include extreme heat and/or extreme cold depending on the ambient temperatures outside. The use of safety goggles or other PPE may be required when working in these conditions.

The Lead Automotive Technician must be able to meet the following physical requirements:

• Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and able to walk to gain access to various areas of the building
• Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly throughout the day; must have full range of motion with arms and hands and be able to feel, handle or finger objects frequently
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, lift and/or move up to 70 pounds frequently.
• Communicate with customers and shop personnel
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus
