Job summary

Nokia Allentown is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Automation Engineer to design, deploy, and scale automation for precision photonic manufacturing. You will lead AI-based machine vision, robotics, and test/packaging processes across high‑volume production, driving yield, throughput and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, or related field; MS preferred.
• 5+ years designing and deploying automation systems in high-volume manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with machine vision and AI/deep learning-based inspection.
• Robotics, motion control, or precision mechanical system design experience.
• Experience with controls/PLC systems and machine vision software.
• Familiarity with SQL and statistics; SPC considerations.
• Strong problem-solving, collaborative, and documentation skills.
• Experience presenting design reviews and reports.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation for test and packaging cells.
• Integrate AI-based machine vision for defect detection and alignment.
• Support yield, throughput, and cycle-time improvements.
• Collaborate with product, test, and process engineering teams.
• Provide root-cause investigation for automation issues.
• Develop documentation and validation protocols.
• Assist capital equipment justification and capacity planning.
