Job summary

Insight Global's client in the Bronx, NY is seeking an Automation Engineer to join the team. The role acts as the site's technical authority for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, industrial networks, and automated production and packaging equipment, while supervising controls technicians 24/7.

The engineer will standardize an aging controls base, manage PLC lifecycle, backups, and uniform programming conventions across multiple manufacturers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation or Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years in controls, automation, or manufacturing systems engineering.
• 3+ years of leadership or mentorship experience.
• Hands-on Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs, industrial networking, and automated production equipment.
• Experience in FDA or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as site's technical authority for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks.
• Directly supervising a team of controls technicians across a 24/7 operation.
• Standardize aging controls base, manage PLC lifecycle, backups, and uniform programming conventions across multiple manufacturers.
• Own the automation portion of the site capital plan and lead upgrades, while supporting change control, qualification documentation, and regulatory inspections.

Job description

A client of Insight Global in the Bronx, NY is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their team. This individual will serve as the site's technical authority for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, industrial networks, and automated production and packaging equipment, while directly supervising a team of controls technicians across a 24/7 operation. A primary focus of this role is standardizing an aging and inconsistent controls base, including PLC lifecycle management, program backups, and uniform programming conventions across equipment from multiple manufacturers. This individual will also own the automation portion of the site capital plan, leading upgrade and improvement projects while supporting change control, qualification documentation, and regulatory inspections. This is an onsite position.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation, or Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline
• 7+ years of experience in controls, automation, or manufacturing systems engineering
• 3+ years of leadership or mentorship experience
• Extensive hands-on experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs, industrial networking, and automated production equipment
• Experience in an FDA or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment
