Job summary

University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO, is seeking a Lead Athletic Field Specialist to maintain and elevate our NCAA facilities, including natural grass and synthetic turf fields, tracks, and stadium landscapes.

The role requires leadership, outdoor work, and expertise in turf management; two years of relevant experience is expected. You will oversee equipment operation and coordinate a team of student staff to support coaches and events.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant experience in athletic field/grounds work.
• Preferred qualifications include turf/ sports field management experience or related education.

Responsibilities

• Lead athletic field preparation for practices, games, and events.
• Perform field painting and NCAA-compliant game markings.
• Manage turf maintenance, mowing, aerification, topdressing, and renovations.
• Operate and maintain irrigation systems.
• Oversee synthetic turf grooming and maintenance.
• Lead student staff and coordinate daily assignments.
• Support coaches and campus events to ensure high-quality facilities.
• Monitor field conditions for safe playing surfaces.
• Foster teamwork and continuous improvement.
