Job summary

Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, seeks an Astrodynamics Engineer (Lead/Senior) to drive mission design, trajectory optimization, and tool development onsite in California. You will lead a team, set engineering standards, and collaborate across subsystems to ensure mission success.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in aerospace engineering, 5+ years in astrodynamics, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering industry experience or equivalent.
  • 3+ years' experience in orbital mechanics, orbit design, or astrodynamics.
  • 3+ years' experience with orbit design and simulation software tools (GMAT, STK, etc.) and scientific computing software (MATLAB, Python, Julia, Fortran, C++).
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (post-start).

Responsibilities

  • Perform astrodynamics and orbit analyses.
  • Determine and derive astrodynamics requirements to meet customer requirements and perform missions.
  • Optimize spacecraft trajectories based on fuel, time, and performance characteristics.
  • Define/develop tools and processes for mission operations and the broader team.
  • Oversee Astrodynamics Engineering across programs and portfolios.
  • Interface with other subsystems and systems engineering to ensure system-level performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor team members.
