Job summary

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) is seeking an Associate Principal to drive architecture and development of scalable hybrid cloud solutions for critical financial risk management. You will mentor teams and collaborate with product owners to transform our enterprise into a data-driven organization.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in large-scale systems, strong Java, cloud, testing, and CI/CD experience, plus a track record delivering high-quality, secure software in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in building large scale, compute and event-driven solutions.
• Java 8+ experience is required.
• OO design, advanced patterns (AOP) and multi-threading required.
• Experience with distributed brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Amazon Kinesis desirable.
• Cloud tech and migrations; AWS services including VPCs, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM etc.
• High-speed distributed computing with Spark, Kafka Streams, Flink a plus.
• Write high-quality code with >90% unit/integration test coverage; CI/CD practices.
• Experience with relational, NoSQL, graph databases; Git workflows.
• Familiar with DevOps tools: Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Helm; monitoring with Splunk/Prometheus.
• Get stuff done mindset; intellectually curious and eager to learn.

What You'll Do

Associate Principal works with business analysts, team leads and other developers. A major contributor in Architecture design and development of scalable resilient hybrid Cloud-based solutions supporting critical financial risk management activities; mentor and collaborate with developers, architects and product owners to drive the strategy of transforming the enterprise into a data-driven organization; lead through innovative strategic thinking in building solutions. The Associate Principal will be a team player and work well with business, technical and non-technical professionals in a project environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Actively participates in design of highly performing, scalable, secure, reliable and cost optimized solutions.


• Primarily responsibility is application design and development of next gen clearing applications for business requirements in agreed architecture framework and Agile environment


• Thoroughly analyzes requirements, develops, tests, and documents software quality to ensure proper implementation.


• Follows agreed upon SDLC procedures to ensure that all information system products and services meet: both explicit and implicit quality standards, end-user functional requirements, architectural standards, performance requirements, audit requirements, security rules are upheld, and external facing reporting is properly represented.


• Performs thorough code-reviews based on high engineering standards


• Writes unit and integration tests based on chosen DevOps frameworks.


• Performs application and project risk analysis and recommends quality improvements.


• Assists Production Support by providing advice on system functionality and fixes as required.


• Communicates in a clear and concise manner all time delays or defects in the software immediately to appropriate team members and management.


• Assist with departmental and new employee training.


• Experience integrating modelling libraries required. Risk analytics technology implementations experience a plus.


• A major influencer & strategic thinker, this person should also mentor developers and collaborate across multiple cross functional team to achieve the desired outcome.

• 8+ year of experience in building large scale, compute and event-driven solutions.


• Experience (including internal workings of Java) in Java 8+ is required.


• Experience developing software using Object Oriented Designs, advance patterns (like AOP) and multi-threading is required.


• Experience with distributed message brokers like Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Amazon Kinesis, etc. is desirable.


• Experience with cloud technologies and migrations. Experience preferred with AWS foundational services like VPCs, Security groups, EC2, RDS, S3 ACLs, KMS, AWS CLI and IAM etc.


• Experience with high speed distributed computing frameworks involving MapReduce techniques like Apache Spark, Kafka Streams, Apache Flink etc. is a plus.


• Must be able to write good quality code with 90% or above unit and integration tests coverage. Experience with testing frameworks like Junit, Citrus is desirable.


• Experience working with various types of databases like Relational, NoSQL, Object-based, Graph.


• Experience following Git workflows is required.


• Working knowledge of DevOps tools. Eg Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Helm and CI/CD pipeline etc.is desirable.


• Familiarity with monitoring related tools and frameworks like Splunk, ElasticSearch, Prometheus, AppDynamics is a plus.


• ‘Get stuff done’ and flexible mindset for greater good of the organization.


• Intellectually curious and eager to learn.

Technical Skills

• Experience (including internal workings of Java) in Java 8+ is required.


• Experience developing software using Object Oriented Designs, advance patterns (like AOP) and multi-threading is required.

Education and/or Experience

• BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field required. Masters preferred.

Certificates or Licenses

• OCP Java SE 8 Programmer Certification is a plus


• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Level is a plus

• The salary range listed for any given position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at OCC, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education.

• All employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, company and individual performance and are not guaranteed.

Salary Range

$136,000.00 - $222,800.00

Incentive Range

8% to 15%
