Job Summary

As a Lead Assembler, you will be the go-to assembler within the Advanced Manufacturing Production Team (AMT), performing duties to assist the Supervisor. Under general direction, you would work alongside the Supervisor to support and direct daily operations.

What will you do?
  1. Monitor the production plan during the day and move employees as needed to accomplish target production.
  2. Develop and maintain rapport with team members, enabling open communication and constructive feedback for daily operations.
  3. Serve as a liaison between development, manufacturing, quality engineers, and the production team.
  4. Facilitate problem-solving discussions with key players to gather different viewpoints and reach the best solutions. Report line downtime and non-conforming materials to management.
  5. Collaborate with the Supervisor to coordinate and deliver employee training to production operators, ensuring procedures are followed and quality requirements are met. This includes training new hires, temporary employees, and ongoing cross-training, with ongoing feedback and coaching.
  6. Ensure team members follow written instructions, visual aids, or travelers when working on products.
  7. Perform quality checks on assemblies, finished goods, and components.
  8. Ensure proper procedures are followed within the AMT area for Turck Connect, job confirmation, scrap, rework processes, Turck Tools completion, and the Work Request Sheet.
  9. Demonstrate strong communication skills and share experience and techniques with team members. Show initiative and a drive to learn new skills, backing up the Production Supervisor when needed.
  10. Coordinate with and assist/backup other Lead Assemblers.
  11. Assist in collecting and providing training on key performance indicators (KPIs). Update production metrics, Turck Connect timecards, and facilitate team communications. Help determine priorities and communicate updates.
  12. Actively seek to improve documented procedures, including standard operating procedures and work instructions, and suggest improvements or corrections to Manufacturing Engineering and Management.
  13. Work with other departments (Planning, Stockroom, Manufacturing Technicians, Engineers) to ensure all materials are available for assembly.
  14. Correct unsafe practices and teach principles of 5S and waste elimination.
  15. Support Lean and Quality initiatives, including Kaizen and Continuous Improvement activities.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.
What will you bring to the table?

  • Basic reading and math skills
  • Manufacturing/Production experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of soldering is a plus
  • Advanced Manufacturing experience is preferred
