Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a senior architectural field engineering lead for a major API facility project in Houston, TX. You will supervise Architectural Field Engineers, drive planning, materials management, and quality turnover to ensure installations meet design intent and project requirements.

You will coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, and subcontractors while maintaining safety and adherence to the Zero Accident Philosophy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
• 8–10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years for senior roles.

Responsibilities

• Lead Architectural Field Engineers, provide technical direction and coaching.
• Oversee development of construction drawings, field instructions, and methods.
• Coordinate planning, scoping, materials readiness, sequencing, and field execution.
• Manage material withdrawals, POs, quantity takeoffs, and tracking of finishes.
• Lead coordination with architects, structural/MEP engineers and subcontractors to resolve issues.
• Review inspection plans, coordinate tests, ensure quality verification and turnover readiness.
• Ensure Zero Accident Philosophy and safety compliance on site.

Job Summary:

Assigned to lead field engineering activities supporting architectural construction scope. Responsible for supervising and coordinating Architectural Field Engineers and providing technical leadership for planning, work packaging, material management, quantity verification, safety, quality control, subcontractor coordination, field issue resolution, and turnover within assigned areas. Works with construction leadership, craft professionals, subcontractors, architects, engineering, and other disciplines to ensure architectural installations are performed safely, align with design intent, and meet project requirements. Provides direction, coaching, workload coordination, and technical review to support consistent field engineering execution and development of assigned personnel. #LI-ME1

Major Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the work of Architectural Field Engineers, establish priorities, distribute assignments, review deliverables, provide technical direction, and support employee development and performance feedback.
• Oversee preparation and review of construction drawings, sketches, field instructions, and architectural construction methods and procedures.
• Coordinate work planning and packaging, system and area scoping, workface readiness, sequencing, access, materials, and constraints required to support architectural field execution.
• Oversee permanent plant material withdrawals, field purchase requisitions, quantity takeoffs, commodity verification, and quantity tracking systems for architectural materials and finishes.
• Lead technical coordination with architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, construction leadership, craft professionals, and subcontractors to resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, material issues, and site-condition impacts.
• Review and approve inspection test plans and coordinate architectural inspections, testing, quality verification, nonconformance documentation, corrective actions, punch closure, and turnover readiness.
• Coordinate subcontractor work fronts, provide technical guidance, review submittals, and monitor architectural execution for compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, standards, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Ensure the Zero Accident Philosophy and project safety requirements are implemented and adhered to by site personnel and that tools and equipment are maintained and operated safely.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of architectural plans, elevations, specifications, codes, standards, construction methods, building envelope, waterproofing, insulation, finishes, materials, and installation requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to lead Field Engineers, establish priorities, coordinate workloads, review technical deliverables, provide coaching, and support competency development in a team-based environment.
• Ability to confirm architectural materials, finishes, and installed systems meet specified requirements through submittal review, field inspection, testing, quality verification, and turnover documentation.
• Ability to collaborate with architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, construction leadership, quality, craft professionals, and subcontractors to resolve design conflicts, field conditions, nonconformances, and constructability issues.
• Experience with work packaging, material management, quantity tracking, subcontractor coordination, inspection test plans, corrective actions, punch closure, progress reporting, and field engineering systems.
