What Is the Opportunity?

As a Lead Architect in AI and Emerging Technology Architecture, you will join a strategic and collaborative team passionate about transforming our business and technology capabilities. You will work with senior technology and business leaders to design AI systems that deliver business value while upholding ethical standards.

What Will You Do?
  • Apply expertise in AI/ML, Generative AI, and agentic AI systems – including autonomous agent design, multi‑agent orchestration (LangChain, Strands, Crew AI), Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Agent2Agent integration – to build scalable, production‑grade AI solutions across the enterprise.
  • Provide consulting to division and domain architects, aligning architecture across lines of business and championing an enterprise AI solutions architecture practice.
  • Align AI platform capabilities to business needs, managing LLM selection, RAG pipelines, memory systems, and tool/function‑calling patterns while promoting reusability and interoperability.
  • Help establish governance, risk, and control processes for safe, compliant, and sustainable AI, informed by frameworks such as the EU AI Act, GDPR, NAIC, and NIST AI RMF.
  • Track and communicate the evolving AI platform roadmap, surface competitive insights, and highlight opportunities and challenges that support enterprise initiatives.
  • Bridge complex AI concepts for non‑technical stakeholders, build consensus, and foster a knowledge‑sharing culture within the architecture community.
  • Scope architecture for multiple technology and business segments/domains within a single business unit.
  • Define and lead technology proof of concepts, assess feasibility, and drive innovation through prototyping new solutions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align with technology strategy, execute proofs of technology, and guide architecture priorities.
  • Deliver communications that convey architectural direction and champion organizational buy‑in.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology‑related field or equivalent; 8–10 years of architecture experience.
  • Advanced architecture and hands‑on engineering expertise with modern technologies.
  • Successful execution of complex, large‑scale technology strategies.
  • Advanced leadership skills, cross‑functional collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
  • Experience in an agile operational model and supporting transformational change.
  • Ability to develop technology target states and roadmaps aligned with business goals.
  • Insurance technology experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of value creation, business capability models, and the insurance industry.
  • Proficient in defining scalable, production‑grade AI systems, MLOps/AI Ops, CI/CD pipelines, and agentic coding tools.
  • Hands‑on expertise with AI/ML development, neural network architectures, and optimization techniques.
  • Strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, statistics, and probability theory.
  • Experience with agentic patterns – tool use, function calling, API integration, memory systems, RAG, vector databases, multi‑agent orchestration.
  • Deep experience with cloud AI services (AWS Bedrock, Azure Foundry, GCP Gemini AI) and SaaS AI capabilities.
  • Knowledge of AI ethics, bias mitigation, responsible AI practices, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with AI governance frameworks and model risk management.
What is a Must Have?
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or equivalent education/work experience.
  • 7 additional years of architecture or software engineering experience.
  • 2 years of technical leadership experience.
What Is in It for You?
  • Health insurance for employees and eligible family members from day one.
  • Retirement benefits: 401(k) match up to 5% of eligible pay, a Pension Plan fully funded by Travelers, and the Paying it Forward Savings Program for student loan debt.
  • Paid Time Off: minimum 20 days annually plus nine paid company holidays.
  • Wellness program with tools, discounts, and mental health resources.
