Job summary

CVS Health is seeking an experienced Enterprise Solutions Architect to define and drive architecture across the organization, balancing scalability, security, and performance. This role can be remote from anywhere in the continental USA.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in large-scale software development with 3+ years in solution architecture or technical leadership.
  • Proficient in Java with architectural experience using Spring, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs; 5+ years collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of OOP, design patterns, distributed systems, concurrency control, and parallelism.
  • 2+ years hands-on with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS) including cloud-native patterns.
  • Mastery of architectural decision-making - evaluating technology trade-offs and applying best practices.
  • Experience with AI assistant tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and UX to translate business objectives into technical roadmaps within agile methodologies.
  • Lead production incident response, driving root‑cause analysis and systemic improvements.

Overview

Defines and drives enterprise-scale digital solutions by designing end-to-end architectures, guiding engineering teams through implementation, and influencing the overall technical strategy across the organization.

This role can work remotely from anywhere in the continental USA.

Primary Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Node.js/NestJS, GraphQL (schema design, federation), and modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) including SSR/CSR.
  • Hands‑on experience with auth frameworks (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, JWT) and API security patterns. Experience with microservices, event‑driven architecture (Kafka), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability tooling.
  • Knowledge of data architecture - relational/NoSQL databases, caching (Redis), and data modeling at scale.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Openness to leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance architectural solutions.
  • Pharmacy domain knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills; experience mentoring engineers and driving outcomes across teams.
Education

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
