Job summary

Element Solutions Inc. in Wilmington, DE is seeking a Sr. R&D Applications Engineer to lead paste deposition process development for Active Copper. Based at the Wilmington site, you will drive optimization, mentor the team, and partner with San Jose and Waterbury colleagues to scale processes for high-volume manufacturing.

You will apply DOE and Six Sigma methods, oversee experimentation, and engage customers during reviews. Travel up to 25% is expected, with safety and collaboration at the core.

Qualifications

• MS with 7+ years of relevant experience in electronics manufacturing, materials science, or a related field.
• Experience with printing, dispensing, sintering, and plating equipment, including vacuum-assisted printing and PCB sinter press.
• Strong ability to solve problems through DOE and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Mentoring or supervising junior technical staff and leading a small applications team.
• Ability to link business strategy, customer applications, and technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead full development of the paste deposition process with optimized quality and consistency.
• Provide technical supervision and mentoring to R&D Applications Engineers and Technicians.
• Partner with the Application Qualification Team to integrate processes into full board builds.
• Design and execute systematic studies using advanced printing, deposition, and sinter equipment.
• Act as the applications SME during customer reviews and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with R&D Innovation, metrology, and business teams to resolve challenges.
• Utilize metrology techniques to characterize deposit quality and process performance.
• Create technical presentations and documentation for internal and external customers.
• Contribute to strategic direction of the Active Copper business unit.
