Job summary

Maximus is seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead Appian Developer to drive design, development, and implementation of complex case management and workflow automation solutions in a federal environment. You will lead development initiatives, implement AI-driven capabilities, and ensure compliance with strict security standards.

The role is remote and requires a Public Trust security clearance, with federal contract requirements and TCS154/T4/Band 7 designation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• 7+ years of hands-on Appian development experience (design, configuration, and implementation of enterprise-grade applications) using Appian 17.x or later.
• 3+ years in a technical lead or senior developer capacity, leading small-to-medium development teams.
• Proven experience delivering mission-critical applications within federal or highly regulated environments.
• AI & Automation: Experience (or strong interest) in integrating AI into business processes - for example, using AI for document classification, extraction, summarization, intelligent decisioning, or chatbots. Understanding of how low-code AI features can augment automation and process orchestration. Hands-on experience with AI technologies, AI/ML/LLM integration, generative AI solutions. Familiarity with Appian AI.
• Technical Stack: Proficient in SQL and relational databases, with hands-on experience supporting and developing Oracle database solutions.
• Cloud: Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Methodology: Strong, hands-on experience with Agile software development
• Due to Federal contract requirements, U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must be able to pass a government-sponsored background investigation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance (Active clearance highly preferred).
• Knowledge of FISMA, NIST, Section 508, and records management compliance.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
