Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration in Durham, NC seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN/NP) to provide comprehensive anesthesia/pain clinic services, with prescriptive authority under clinical privileges.

The NP works with an interdisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based care, manage a patient panel, order and interpret tests, and educate patients and families. Eligible applicants must meet DEA and NC requirements.

Qualifications

• APN/NP practices to full extent of education, training and certification.
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Provides education to patients and families.
• Complies with DEA and NC prescribing rules; collaborates with physician when required.

Responsibilities

• Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic conditions.
• Leads and collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team.
• Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
• Develops individualized plans to achieve population health goals.
