Job summary

Orlando Science Center is seeking a Lead Animal Keeper to manage daily care of the LIFE exhibit's ambassador collection. You will perform husbandry, enrichment, and training, and lead keeper talks with live animals for OSC guests.

You will mentor staff and volunteers, maintain records, and support daily operations for the Animal Care Manager, with cross-training opportunities across LIFE, Rainforest, Ocean, and Swamp areas.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in animal science, biology, or related field.
• Three years' experience in a zoo, aquarium, museum, park or similar facility including animal husbandry and public programming.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; willing to drive OSC vehicle for business purposes.
• Willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Comfortable and willing to work in and around water.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and feed daily ration of frozen, fresh, and dry foods.
• Maintain exhibit aesthetics and regular cleaning of habitats and exhibits.
• Present public programs with and without live animals to diverse groups.
• Trains and oversees staff, interns, and volunteers on OSC SOPs and animal handling.
• Develop conservation messaging for public programs and hands-on activities.
