Fort Wayne Zoo is seeking a full-time Animal Care Supervisor to lead daily operations in the Australian Adventure and Ambassador Animals areas, ensuring high welfare standards and engaging guest experiences.

This working leadership role emphasizes field duties (about 70%) and administrative tasks (about 30%), supervising staff, coordinating care, preparing reports, and collaborating with the Area Curator and zoo veterinarians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related field is required.
• Three years of experience in a zoological setting is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Experience with water systems, filtration systems, or large carnivores is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily rounds to ensure welfare standards.
• Supervise and train animal staff in assigned areas.
• Oversee health monitoring and coordinate with veterinarians.
• Prepare written reports and maintain records.
• Manage facilities maintenance and coordinate repairs.
• Track budget and expenses for animal functions.
