Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking a Lead Android Automotive Quality Engineer to spearhead QE efforts for automotive infotainment systems. You will collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to ensure reliable vehicle experiences and lead end-to-end testing across AAOS, IVI head units, and embedded platforms.

The role requires hands-on testing, test automation framework development, and strong leadership to mentor junior engineers and drive CI pipelines.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering/System Testing, preferably automotive.
• Proficient with Android Automotive OS (AAOS) / AOSP and automotive infotainment testing.
• Experience with testing automotive infotainment / IVI systems.
• Strong understanding of Android Framework, Services, Applications, and System Architecture.
• Hands-on with Android debugging tools (ADB, logcat, dumpsys, bugreport).
• Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, Java, Kotlin, or C/C++.
• Experience developing or maintaining test automation frameworks.
• Knowledge of functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience with CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, SOME/IP, UDS.
• Experience with Vehicle HAL (VHAL) and vehicle-to-Android integration.
• Experience with Jira, ALM, TestRail, or similar test/defect management tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end quality assurance and validation for Android Automotive/IVI systems.
• Develop and execute system, integration, functional, regression, and performance test strategies.
• Validate AAOS components including Audio, Bluetooth, Connectivity, Media, Navigation, Vehicle HAL, Power Management, and Settings.
• Design and maintain automated test frameworks using Python, Java/Kotlin, or other scripting languages.
• Perform testing across Android Automotive, AOSP, IVI head units, and embedded automotive platforms.
• Troubleshoot software and system issues using ADB, logcat, dumpsys, bugreports, and Android debugging tools.
• Perform root-cause analysis and work with development teams to resolve defects.
• Validate communication between Android and vehicle systems using CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, SOME/IP, and UDS.
• Work with Vehicle HAL (VHAL) and automotive-specific Android services and interfaces.
• Develop test plans, test cases, automation scripts, test reports, and quality metrics.
• Lead defect triage and collaborate with Android developers, embedded engineers, system engineers, and OEM stakeholders.
• Mentor junior QA/test engineers and establish best practices for automotive software validation.
• Support continuous integration and automated testing pipelines.
