Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and technical guidance while inspecting, modifying, testing and repairing aircraft systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair system discrepancies to minimize schedule impact.
  • Implement process changes to reduce cost while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Ensure availability of necessary data (blueprints, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, airworthiness directives).
  • Manage documentation and signoffs per Repair Station Manual and task requirements.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on engines, landing gear, and components per FARs and RSQM.
  • Maintain high safety standards and housekeeping; enforce regulations at all times.

Purpose:

The Lead Aircraft Technician reports to the Shift Manager or Aircraft Maintenance Manager, who provides task requirements and daily priorities to accomplish aircraft schedule requirements. The Lead Technician is responsible for assigning, instructing, coordinating and approving the work for all personnel assigned to their crew. The Lead Technician also performs all phases of repair, maintenance or modification on aircraft or component parts to include dismantling, repairing, assembling and erection of machinery and mechanical devices and the exchange and replacement of electrical equipment or electrical components.

EssentialJobFunctions:

  • Provides leadership, technical expertise and guidance while performing various inspection, modification, testing and repairs of aircraft systems to ensure a defect free aircraft.
  • Provide technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing system discrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise and leadership by defining and implementing process changes to reduce cost and meet schedule without compromising Safety or Quality.
  • Make available the necessary technical data, blueprints, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, airworthiness directives and any other required data.
  • Ascertain that all necessary work records are properly executed by the responsible Technician.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair and modification on aircraft including engines, landing gear, and components and do the necessary inspection / maintenance and replacement of parts in accordance with the Federal Air Regulations (FARs) and the Repair Station and Quality Manual.
  • Become familiar with and follow the requirements of this RSQM, Federal Aviation Regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Advisory Circular, manufacturer’s service bulletins and any other required references to perform their assigned work. Never begin any maintenance unless you are in possession of the proper, current, and applicable approved or acceptable data.
  • Ensure the work area is kept to the highest standards of safety, compliant at all times, enforcing regulations and practices to avoid accidents. Ensure that good housekeeping practices are performed at all times.
  • Perform the proper tagging of Aircraft components, parts and panels appropriately stored (including racks by aircraft).
  • Perform documentation procedures and signoffs in accordance with Repair Station Manual and respective task requirements.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are correctly used and handled for both safety and to reduce breakages, wear and tear. Ensure tooling, GSE and ground equipment is returned to its proper storage area following use.
  • Strive for continuous process improvements and increasing efficiencies in execution and delivery with safety as a priority.
  • Deal with customers in a cordial, respectful and professional manner.
  • Ensure the highest quality service, safety standards and performance, with the objective of exceeding customer satisfaction in the re-delivery of airworthy, reliable, and clean aircraft, in a timely manner.
  • Take part in any required training as determined by the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MinimumQualificationsorExperience:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Is required to be proficient in oral and written English.
  • Holds a valid and current FAA Mechanic certificate with an Airframe and Powerplant rating
  • As an exception for exemplary performance, those holding a Repairman’s Certificate or meets qualification and experience requirements for the issuance of a Repairman’s Certificate.
PreferredQualificationsorExperience:
  • 10+ years aircraft maintenance experience on current fleet types being maintained or modified by the Repair Station.
  • Taxi / Engine Run qualified on transport category aircraft.
  • Completion of General Familiarization Training Courses on current fleet types being maintained or modified by the Repair Station.
SupervisoryResponsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge,Skills,andOtherAttributes:
  • Able to perform intermediate/ major/heavy aircraft maintenance tasks with no supervision.
  • Understand specific design and operation of installed aircraft systems to enable effective troubleshooting, repair and modification of wiring and components.
  • Able to read, interpret and apply FAA approved or accepted data (i.e., IPC, M/M, OHM, SRM) proficiently.
  • Proven ability to work alone and in a team environment.
  • Dependability: personally responsible, completes work in a timely manner, and performs tasks accurately.
  • Motivation: must maintain a positive attitude and strong work energy.
  • Organization: very detail oriented and always comes prepared
