Job summary

Kalitta Air, Llc is seeking a Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician - Weekends, First Shift in Oscoda, MI. You will oversee maintenance tasks performed by technicians and apprentices, ensure quality and on-time completion, and enforce all FAA procedures and company policies during your shift.

The role requires an FAA-certificated mechanic with powerplant or airframe ratings, plus experience on large jets such as 747-400 or 777 variants.

Qualifications

  • FAA-certificated mechanic with Powerplant or Airframe and Powerplant License.
  • Recommended two years of maintenance experience on Boeing 747-400 or 777F/777-300 or similar aircraft.
  • Must read and interpret technical data/manuals.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist approved work by Supervisors within the scheduled shift.
  • Coordinate activities with Maintenance Supervisors and ensure on-time, on-budget project completion.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA procedures and company policies, including MEL/CDL/NEF.
  • Monitor attendance and evaluate crewmembers’ performance.
  • Maintain safe, clean work areas and proper tool control; report issues to supervision.

Education

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician - Weekends, First Shift

Reports To: Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor

POSITION PURPOSE

The Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing various maintenance functions on company aircraft performed by Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Mechanics, and Apprentices in accordance with all company policies and procedures as well as all federal aviation regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee and assist approved work by their Supervisors within the scheduled shift.
  • Work with assigned crew to ensure projects achieve quality work on time and budget.
  • Ensure that productivity and budgets are satisfactory.
  • Ensuring company and FAA procedures are being followed.
  • Monitoring personnel for attendance and performing evaluations of crewmembers.
  • Keep a safe, clean workplace at all times. Recommending improvements needed to increase performance, quality, etc., to the Supervisors.
  • Report any problems affecting projects to the Supervisors.
  • Ensure that personnel follow instructions and perform tasks in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Ensuring that waste materials, oils, fluids, etc., are handled correctly.
  • Ensure completeness of all assigned work documents and records.
  • Oversee on-the-job training during work shift to ensure proper qualification standards are met and maintained.
  • Coordinate all activities with Maintenance Supervisors.
  • Research all pertinent information and material for work scheduled on aircraft.
  • Oversee and Assist in the clean-up of the maintenance work area.
  • Ensure that all maintenance areas meet good “housekeeping” standards.
  • Always maintain positive tool control accountability & immediately report lost and/or found tools to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with and implement the necessary procedures in the MEL/CDL/NEF Program.
  • Monitor the proper completion of aircraft records (e.g., logbook pages, work cards, non-routines, Engineering documents [EOs, EAs, etc.], and other related documents).
  • Maintain familiarization with the training requirements necessary as defined in the AMTM and ensure training is current prior to performing the functions and tasks of this position.
  • Always follow (never deviate from) approved published procedures unless proper deviation is Authorized
  • Must be able to pass a 10 Year Background check, and any location specific requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain an Airport SIDA Badge and United States Custom Seal if required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • FAA-certificated mechanic with Powerplant or Airframe and Powerplant License (must be provided upon hire and/or request).
  • Recommended, two (2) years of experience performing maintenance in the following areas on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical data/manuals.
  • Mut hold a high school diploma or G.E.D
  • Must have a valid US driver’s license
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give and receive verbal and written direction to team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • FAA-certificated mechanic with Airframe, Powerplant or both ratings (may be reviewed based on Location and position)
  • Recommended but not required, two (2) years of experience performing maintenance in the following areas on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft:
  • maintenance checks
  • gear changes
  • component maintenance on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft or successful Completion of accredited A&P mechanic training course
  • When requested by management if applicable to your location, must obtain Engine Run / Taxi

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position requires extremely strenuous physical work involving objects in excess of 100 lbs.
