Job summary

West Star Aviation is seeking a Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician in Statesville, NC. The role centers on leading a team of technicians to deliver high-quality maintenance work with strong problem-solving and a technical orientation.

The position requires an Airframe & Powerplant license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and extensive aviation maintenance experience. Expect to supervise multiple projects and ensure timely, compliant work within a hangar environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and Airframe and Powerplant license required.
• Driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport ideal but not mandatory.
• Aircraft-specific factory training preferred.
• 8+ years in aviation maintenance preferred.
• 4+ years in program-specific airframes.
• This position requires minimal supervision and will lead small groups in daily tasks.
• These techs are subject matter experts and demonstrate a wide and comprehensive knowledge of the job.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team to complete jobs/tasks with good judgement and involve management when needed.
• Implement a strong turnover of work to the next shift.
• Identify opportunities to reduce turn time of aircraft.
• Train/mentor technicians assigned to projects.
• Supervise team members in daily workload and maintain schedule and quality.
• Lead multiple projects as assigned; drive initiative and results.
• Perform mechanical work on aircraft and related systems, including panels and components, repairs and sheet metal work.
• Troubleshoot and evaluate systems; inspect and evaluate aircraft and components.
