Job summary

Meta is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to build AI systems for production reliability, sitting at the intersection of distributed systems, incident response, and applied AI. You will prototype, build, and ship agentic systems, working directly with production data and code.

This is a hands-on senior IC role that requires deep infra expertise, sound judgment on applying AI to production problems, and the ability to move quickly from idea to production at Meta scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 12+ years of software engineering, incl. large-scale distributed or infrastructure systems.
• Experience setting technical direction and leading multi-year efforts across orgs.
• Experience applying AI or ML systems to production problems.
• Proven track record delivering production deployments with measurable impact.
• Experience diagnosing complex production systems using telemetry and config data.
• Experience coding in C++, Java, Python, Rust or similar languages.
• Ability to influence senior engineers without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision and architecture for agentic reliability systems across Meta.
• Personally design, code, and ship production agentic systems for infrastructure problems.
• Lead the development of an AI agent for production incident investigation and mitigation.
• Develop improvements in agent reasoning, context, planning, evaluation, and safe execution.
• Explore techniques including fine-tuning, RL, distillation, pruning, and inference optimization.
• Identify new high-value AI applications across incident prevention, detection, and mitigation.
• Move rapidly from ambiguous problems to prototypes and production-ready systems.
• Build evaluation/experimentation systems linking agent quality to outcomes.
• Create closed-loop improvement systems from production results.
• Establish guardrails for production actions with oversight and auditability.
• Partner with Infrastructure, AI, Product, and Reliability leaders to integrate AI capabilities.
• Mentor engineers on distributed systems and applied AI.
