Job summary

Pearson seeks a senior AI leader to drive production AI capabilities and platform development across learner intelligence, recommendations, and knowledge graphs. You will own the end-to-end AI delivery lifecycle, from experimentation to deployment, monitoring, and governance, partnering with Product, Engineering, and Learning Science teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and deploying production AI/ML systems (cloud-native incl. MLOps).
• Experience with generative AI, LLMs, RAG, recommender systems, knowledge graphs, or agent AI.
• Hands-on AI apps using foundation models and modern AI frameworks.
• Proficient in Python and APIs, testing, CI/CD, version control, production ops.
• Experience designing scalable AI platforms and deployments in AWS or similar cloud.
• Experience with containers, orchestration, IaC, and production-grade deployments.
• Experience evaluating AI systems for quality, reliability, safety, latency, scalability, cost.
• Experience with modern AI technologies (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, LangGraph, LangChain).
• Strong collaboration and communication with product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
• Bachelor's in CS/Engineering/Data Science/AI-ML or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and operation of production AI capabilities.
• Design and deliver Generative AI, LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions.
• Build reusable AI platform components and workflows across Pearson products.
• Own end-to-end AI delivery lifecycle from prototyping to deployment and monitoring.
• Establish scalable MLOps and AIOps for training, deployment, observability, governance.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Learning Science, and Data Science teams.
• Evaluate emerging AI tech and architectures while balancing quality, latency, cost.
• Establish best practices for responsible AI, evaluation, and governance.
• Mentor engineers and data scientists to elevate AI engineering capabilities.
• Communicate strategy and trade-offs to stakeholders.
