Job summary

Guild Mortgage Company is seeking an AI Governance Lead to drive responsible use of AI and LLMs across the organization. You will partner with Information Security, Software Engineering, IT Operations, Risk, Legal, and Compliance to shape governance strategy, policies, and controls.

You will own AI Tool Inventory, due diligence, approval processes, ongoing monitoring, and the development of retention policies and use policies, ensuring compliance with NIST/ISO frameworks and evolving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• Minimum seven years of experience required.
• IT Governance, Risk, Compliance, Security, and/or AI/ML-related experience required.
• Certification in AI governance, risk, or security preferred.
• ISACA AAIA, AIGP, CRISC, CISA, or CGEIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI governance across the organization, partnering with Information Security, Software Engineering, IT Operations, Risk, and Legal/Compliance to ensure responsible use of AI.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance the AI Governance Strategy, framework, and supporting policies aligned with NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001.
• Own and maintain the AI Tool Inventory, Assessment, and Approval Process for AI/LLM tools and use cases.
• Lead AI due diligence and ongoing monitoring for third‑party and internal AI/LLM solutions.
• Coordinate governance of Copilot/ChatGPT/Claude Citizen Development Process with guardrails and approvals.
• Manage AI agentic tools governance, including access and change management practices.
• Develop and maintain the AI Record Retention Policy and AI Use Policy.
• Partner with Information Security on LLM monitoring, AI data loss prevention, and related controls.
• Document and monitor AI governance activities, providing governance deliverables and reports.
• Prepare and deliver stakeholder trainings and updates on new AI requirements and controls.
• Monitor emerging AI regulations and standards to keep the program current.

Position Summary

The AI Governance Lead plays a critical role in the organization by leading the company’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance program. The role is responsible, under general direction, for leading and continuously enhancing the frameworks, policies, and controls that ensure AI and LLM tools and technologies are adopted responsibly, securely, and in compliance with applicable regulations. This role works as part of the IT Governance Team and serves as the primary liaison across Information Security, Software Engineering, IT Operations, Risk, Legal and Compliance to identify, assess, and monitor AI-related risks. Key focus of the position is leading the AI Tool Inventory, Assessment, and Approval Process, AI due diligence and ongoing monitoring activities, and the continuous enhancement of the company’s AI governance strategy, policies, and controls in support of compliance with applicable regulatory requirements as they relate to Information Technology, Security, and Artificial Intelligence.

Compensation

This role is an exempt position with a Targeted Salary Range of $109,114.00 to $156,510.56 annually.

Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.

Essential Functions

• Serve as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for AI/LLM governance across the organization, partnering with Information Security, Software Engineering, IT Operations, Risk, and Legal/Compliance to ensure responsible use of artificial intelligence.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously enhance the company’s AI Governance Strategy, framework, and supporting policies in alignment with industry standards such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and ISO/IEC 42001, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Own and maintain the AI Tool Inventory, Assessment, and Approval Process, ensuring all AI/LLM tools, models, and use cases are identified, evaluated for risk, and approved prior to deployment.
• Lead AI Due Diligence and Ongoing Monitoring activities for third-party and internally developed AI/LLM solutions, coordinating with Third Party IT Risk, Information Security, and Software Engineering stakeholders.
• Coordinate the Copilot / ChatGPT / Claude Citizen Development Process, establishing guardrails and approval workflows for business-led development of AI-powered solutions.
• Lead governance of AI agentic tools (e.g., Claude Cowork and similar platforms), ensuring appropriate controls, access management, and change management practices are followed.
• Develop and maintain the AI Record Retention Policy in partnership with IT Governance, Data Privacy, and Legal/Compliance to ensure AI-generated content and interactions are retained and disposed of appropriately.
• Own the ongoing enhancement of the company’s AI Use Policy, incorporating emerging risks, regulatory changes, and lessons learned from operational incidents.
• Partner with Information Security on LLM monitoring and control activities (e.g., SOC monitoring of Copilot/ChatGPT/Claude usage), AI Connected App approvals, AI data loss prevention (DLP) controls, and AI data exposure monitoring.
• Document and monitor AI governance activities, ensuring tasks, decisions, and control activities are tracked and operate in a well-managed environment.
• Produce governance deliverables, including AI risk assessments, process flows, procedure documentation, and specialized reports related to AI tools, controls, metrics, and communications.
• Maintain AI risk management policies, document control gaps and issues, and coordinate efforts to build awareness and understanding of AI governance concepts across business lines.
• Support implementation of AI governance practices and procedures by preparing and delivering presentations and training to internal stakeholders, providing regular updates on new requirements and controls.
• Participate in high-level discussions to identify and respond to AI-related business risks, ensuring business units understand key AI risk concepts and their relevance to core business practice.
• Monitor that controls used to mitigate AI-related business risks are properly designed, executed, and documented; work with cross‑functional resources to identify, design, and test controls for optimal effectiveness.
• Monitor that appropriate management ownership exists to facilitate due diligence and participation in AI-related compliance, audit, and risk management requirements.
• Support audits and regulatory examinations related to AI/LLM usage, monitoring the disposition and resolution of related issues and findings.
• Track emerging AI regulations, industry standards, and best practices (e.g., U.S. state AI laws, NIST, ISO/IEC 42001) to ensure the company’s AI governance program remains current and defensible.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and responsible AI use, establishing visible metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the AI governance program.
• Collaborate in the development of company-wide governance frameworks encompassing ITIL, CobIT, and ISO disciplines as they apply to AI/LLM technologies.
• Look for continuous improvement and cost‑saving opportunities related to AI tooling and governance processes. Make recommendations to the Director of IT Governance for changes that would result in improved delivery of services and/or cost savings.
• Participate in strategic and tactical initiatives involving AI-related resource management, monitoring that AI capabilities support the business’s strategic goals.
• Serve on AI-related planning and policymaking committees, as appropriate, to drive development of technology standards, governance processes, and performance metrics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum seven years of experience required.
• IT Governance, Risk, Compliance, Security, and/or AI/ML-related experience required.
• Certification in AI governance, risk, or security preferred.
• ISACA Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA), AIGP, CRISC, CISA, or CGEIT preferred.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of AI/LLM governance frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, and emerging AI regulations (e.g., EU AI Act).
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and manipulate data across various sources including Excel, GRC platforms, and online repositories.
• Ability to create, improve, and maintain AI governance processes in the IT Division (process modelling and procedure development experience desired).
• Understanding of systems development lifecycle and change management concepts, and how they apply to AI/ML model development and deployment.
• Understanding of financial institution governance and regulations including SSAE16/18, FFIEC, NSIT, and ISACA/COBIT, as they relate to AI/LLM technologies.
• Familiarity with responsible AI concepts, including model risk management, bias and fairness testing, explainability, and data privacy considerations.
• Ability to stay organized and effectively manage completion of assigned tasks in a fast-moving, evolving technology landscape.
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex AI and technical risk concepts for non‑technical audiences.
• Ability to summarize and condense large amount of information and data for executive synopsis.
• Willingness to take ownership of AI governance processes, projects, and deliverables in a developing program area.
