Job summary

Cerebras Systems seeks an experienced Principal AI Accelerator Architect to shape next-generation AI accelerators. The role spans identifying opportunities, defining microarchitecture, and ensuring feasibility across hardware and software.

You will own features from insight to implementation readiness and collaborate with RTL, compiler and kernel teams to deliver scalable solutions. The base salary range is $200,000 to $300,000 annually, with potential bonus and equity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in computer architecture, microarchitecture or processor development.
• Deep understanding of computer architecture and microarchitecture.
• Track record of taking features from workload need or initial concept through microarchitecture definition and implementation.
• Strong quantitative judgment comparing performance, power, area and costs.
• Experience using performance models and architecture-exploration tools with Python/C++.
• Ability to reason across workloads, memory systems and compute pipelines.
• Knowledge of RTL, synthesis, timing, power and physical-design considerations.
• Experience collaborating with RTL, verification, physical-design, compiler, kernel and system-software teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• MS or PhD in EE/CE/CS or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze AI workloads, kernels and system bottlenecks to identify high-value architectural opportunities.
• Quantify feature value using performance models, workload studies and representative application scenarios.
• Translate architectural ideas into concrete microarchitecture, including datapaths, control, memory behavior and interfaces.
• Evaluate interactions with the compiler, runtime, programming model and performance-critical kernels.
• Develop or partner with implementation teams to develop prototypes, RTL experiments, synthesis studies or models to validate feasibility and estimate power, performance and area.
• Explore architectural alternatives and clearly articulate their benefits, costs, risks and trade-offs.
• Write architectural and microarchitectural specifications for RTL, verification, compiler and kernel teams.
• Lead cross-functional technical reviews and drive decisions from proposal through handoff.
• Partner with implementation teams to preserve architectural intent during development.
