Job summary

Cricut is seeking a Lead Agentic Software Engineer, Connected Devices to build features across client apps (iOS/iPadOS, Android, Electron/Angular) and hardware integration. You will write production code, use AI-assisted tools, and work with Product/UX to ship end-to-end experiences across platforms.

You will lead design, testing, and release processes, ensuring secure, efficient connectivity with Cricut hardware and strong performance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional client/frontend software development.
• Deep production-level expertise in one major client platform (iOS, Android, or Electron/Angular).
• Strong expertise in device connectivity: Bluetooth Classic, BLE (GATT), USB, Wi‑Fi.
• Embedded hardware integration experience.
• Hands-on use of AI engineering tools and integration of AI/LLM capabilities.
• Proficiency in a primary language: Swift, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
• Experience with native UI frameworks: SwiftUI/UIKit, Jetpack Compose, or Electron/Angular.
• Experience with architectural patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, MVI, etc.).
• Experience consuming REST APIs and automated testing with CI/CD.
• Secure credential storage and telemetry/observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Writetests, review, and ship production code on the primary platform.
• Use agentic coding tools (AI-assisted review, test generation) while ensuring quality.
• Design and build end-to-end features from spec to shipped experience.
• Apply architectural patterns to keep code modular and testable.
• Collaborate with Product Management and UX to surface tradeoffs early.
• Build and maintain secure communication with Cricut hardware over Bluetooth, BLE, USB, and Wi‑Fi.
• Optimize performance: startup time, memory, responsiveness, rendering, battery life, network use.
• Ensure security through encryption, authentication, and key management.
• Write and maintain automated tests for features.
• Drive CI/CD automation, release quality, and deployment processes.
• Ship behind feature flags with progressive rollout and telemetry-based validation.
• Own release health through telemetry: crash rate, budgets, defect trends.
• Participate in code reviews and share knowledge with the team.
• Evaluate emerging platforms, AI/tools, and recommend adoption when beneficial.

• Use agentic coding tools as a core part of your daily workflow — AI-assisted code review, automated test generation, AI-augmented development — whilemaintainingcode quality, security, and human oversight.
• Design and build features end-to-end, from technical approach through implementation, testing, and release.

• Participate in code reviews and share knowledge with other engineers on your platform.
• Evaluate emerging platform, AI, and tooling technologies, and recommend adoption wherethey'dmeaningfully improve your team's work.
• Bachelor's orMaster's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, ora relatedfield.
• 8+ years of professional client/frontend software development experience, with deep, production-levelexpertisein one of: iOS, Android, or Electron/Angular.
• Strongexpertisein device connectivity — Bluetooth Classic, BLE (including GATT design), USB, and Wi-Fi (provisioning,mDNS/SSDP discovery) — along with real-world experience handling pairing, interference, bandwidth limits, and reconnection.
• Working knowledge of embedded hardware integration: firmware constraints, command protocols, calibration, OTA updates, and error handling/telemetry.
• Atleast a year of hands-on, pragmatic use of modern AI engineering tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.), with practical experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities where relevant (agentic patterns, evals, latency/cost/reliability tradeoffs).
• Expert-levelproficiencyin the language matching your primary platform (Swift, Kotlin, or TypeScript).
• Strongexpertisein the native UI framework for your platform (SwiftUI/UIKit, Jetpack Compose, or Electron/Angular).
• Experience with architectural patterns such as MVVM, Clean Architecture, MVI, or component-based architecture.
• Experience consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, UI/end-to-end) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of secure credential storage (Keychain, Android Keystore, or equivalent).
• Experience instrumenting applications with telemetry/observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Firebase, or platform-native logging).
