Jobbeschreibung

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekend, and holidays. Hours will vary based upon flight schedules.

Number of weekly hours may increase or decrease due to seasonal flight changes.

The Lead Airline Ramp Agent is the backbone of the shift. In this working leadership role, you will direct, train, and motivate a team of ramp agents while actively participating in ground operations for commercial and charter aircraft. You set the standard for how the ramp operates — leading by example with integrity, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to safety and customer service.

This is the right next step for an experienced ramp professional who is ready to take ownership of a shift, develop the people around them, and make a measurable difference in the performance of the operation. If you lead with respect, stay composed under pressure, and take pride in doing things the right way — this role was built for you.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations & Team Direction:
  • Plan, organize, direct, and actively participate in Ramp Services operations for both scheduled commercial flights and charter aircraft, including baggage transfers, aircraft de-icing, aircraft cleaning, lavatory services, and ground power unit hookups.
  • Direct and train assigned Ramp Services Agents, including new hire onboarding, ongoing in-service training, monthly compliance training, and annual safety training. Maintain accurate training records.
  • Implement departmental policies and procedures as directed; advise the Ramp Services Supervisor on policy issues and develop more efficient methods of operation as needed.
  • Coordinate Ramp Services activities with air carrier personnel, station management, and TSA representatives as required for the assigned shift.
  • Operate and provide training on all ground service equipment including aircraft loading bridges, baggage tugs and carts, belt loaders, electric carts, lavatory carts, portable water carts, air start units, tow bars, and portable stairs. Ensure all equipment is maintained in safe and operational condition.
  • Maintain emergency checklists and ensure emergency supplies are stocked and accessible at all times.
Compliance & Communication:
  • Ensure compliance with FAA and TSA security regulations, airline corporate rules, directives, and operational procedures. Implement necessary changes as directed and attend all required meetings.
  • Prepare and submit verbal and written reports on ground service activities and ramp agent performance as required.
  • Update the Multi-User Flight Information Display System (MUFIDS) as required.
  • Coordinate communications between the airport, airline dispatch personnel, and flight crews regarding passenger manifests, weight and balance, fueling requirements, on/off times, uplift, flight release, and weather packages.
  • Handle business-related administrative duties including billing, payment data corrections, cash handling, supply ordering, and similar functions.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Only complete tasks for which you are fully trained.
  • Report any safety hazard or incident immediately to the Ramp Services Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by station leadership.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Prior ramp operations experience; demonstrated ability to lead or direct a team in a fast-paced airport environment.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be able to fulfill the requirements to obtain a SIDA (Secure Identification Display Area) badge and pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with team members, airline partners, and management.
Certifications (Required within Probationary Period):
  • FAA and TSA security compliance training as required by airline partners.
  • Aircraft de-icing/anti-icing certification (if applicable at station).
  • Ground Security Coordinator certification as required.
  • Equipment-specific certifications for all assigned GSE.
Preferred:
  • Prior lead, supervisor, or shift coordinator experience in airline ramp or ground handling operations.
  • Familiarity with MUFIDS systems and airline dispatch coordination.
  • Experience with weight and balance, fueling coordination, or aircraft communications.
Work Environment

Work is performed primarily outdoors on the active airport ramp, with some indoor responsibilities in the terminal and operations areas. Subject to exposure to extreme weather conditions, constant aircraft and equipment noise, jet exhaust, fuel vapors, fumes, and variable lighting including nighttime operations. The ramp is a safety-sensitive area with aircraft, vehicles, and ground equipment operating in close proximity at all times. Personal protective equipment is required and provided.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry heavy objects, luggage, and packages weighing up to 75 pounds in and out of aircraft cargo compartments or onto and from conveyor belts.
  • Perform bending, squatting, kneeling, walking, climbing, and reaching from ground level to overhead; must be able to grip and sustain hold of objects throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to ascend to a height of 40 feet for aircraft de-icing operations.

  • Team Development: Invests in the growth of ramp agents through hands‑on training, timely feedback, and consistent coaching.
  • Composure Under Pressure: Remains calm, focused, and decisive during irregular operations, high-volume turns, and difficult situations.
  • Accountability & Reliability: Dependable and self-directed; takes full ownership of the shift's performance and follows through on every commitment.
  • Attention to Detail: Precise in documentation, compliance reporting, equipment checks, and safety procedures — nothing gets missed.
  • Professionalism: Treats every team member, passenger, and airline partner with respect and courtesy; represents TDA with integrity at all times.
