Job summary

Foundation Robotics in San Francisco is seeking a founding electrical engineer for actuators to own the electrical architecture from concept through production, driving efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, and system performance.

You will touch motor controls, power electronics, embedded systems, sensing, and hardware integration to create highly optimized actuator platforms, working closely with mechanical, firmware, controls, and manufacturing engineers.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in motor controls or power electronics
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Ph.D. a plus)
Experience designing motor controllers for robotics or automation
Strong inverter design, current sensing, and control algorithms
Deep embedded systems experience from silicon to firmware
Experience optimizing thermal and electrical efficiency
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and circuit design tools

Responsibilities

Own electrical architecture from concept through production, driving efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, and system performance.
Touch motor controls, power electronics, embedded systems, sensing, and hardware integration to create optimized actuator platforms.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, controls, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to prototype, validate, and industrialize new actuator technologies at scale.
