Job summary

The Reynolds and Reynolds Company seeks a Lead Accountant to support the insurance and underwriting accounting function in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This role involves monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and collaboration with multiple business partners.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business, and strong Excel skills. CPA preferred; hybrid work arrangement available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
• CPA designation preferred.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience required.
• Background in insurance and/or insurance services accounting required.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including journal entries and schedules.
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances and discrepancies.
• Support insurance and underwriting accounting activities (premium, commissions, claims, reserves).
• Reconcile underwriting and operational system activity to the general ledger.
• Prepare financial records and reports in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare audit schedules and assist with external/Internal audits.
• Support regulatory and statutory reporting as applicable.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
