Job summary

City and County of San Francisco seeks an experienced Accountant III to lead accounting for major capital projects within the Recreation and Park Department. You will manage reconciliations, grant reimbursements, and payments to contractors, while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance across multiple projects.

The role requires strong Excel skills, knowledge of the City’s Financial System, and the ability to provide analytical support to project managers and grants administrators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 18 semester or 24 quarter units in accounting.
• Four years of professional accounting experience including work with an automated financial system (government-like preferred) and preparing financial records and reports.
• Master's degree may substitute for one year of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead accountant for Embarcadero Plaza Project, Jackson Playground renovation, and Kezar Pavilion renovation.
• Prepare, review, and reconcile complex financial reports from the City’s financial system.
• Manage grant reimbursements and monitor grant guidelines and deadlines.
• Oversee year-end closing, quarterly reconciliations, and project closeouts; support audits and compliance.
