Job summary

Cortland County DSS is seeking a Principal Account Clerk (HELP Program). The role plans, assigns, and supervises major accounting activities and may perform complex clerical financial tasks electronically or on paper under general supervision.

The position is full-time (35 hours/week) with benefits and a salary in the $22.80–$28.87 per hour range (CSEA). Minimum qualifications include an associate degree or higher with two years of clerical accounting experience, or a high school diploma with

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in accounting, business administration, or closely related field and two years of clerical experience in maintaining financial accounts and records.
• High school diploma or equivalency and four years of clerical experience maintaining financial accounts and records.
• An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, and supervise major account keeping activities and/or independently perform difficult accounting tasks.
• Maintain independence in carrying out detailed work under general supervision.
• Perform related work as required.
