Job summary

AdventHealth in Georgia is hiring an RN for night shift in Calhoun. You will assist with newborn care during deliveries, maintain resuscitation skills, assess high- and low-risk obstetrical patients, and report issues promptly to the physician. You may transfer newborns as needed and ensure accurate documentation.

The role requires RN licensure with BLS; NRP preferred. Associate degree is required, Bachelor’s is preferred, and 1+ acute nursing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license to practice with BLS certification required.
• NRP certification preferred or required depending on unit.
• Associate degree in nursing required; Bachelor preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with newborn care at deliveries and provide immediate care.
• Maintain neonatal resuscitation skills for emergencies.
• Assess obstetrical patients to identify risks and health issues.
• Report maternal and newborn problems to the physician promptly.
• Transfer newborns to other facilities when indicated.
• Document care activities and banding in records.
• Support obstetrical surgical procedures and intraoperative care.
• Provide emotional support to grieving families and connect to resources.
• Educate families about newborn care and post-discharge care.

Job Description

• Assist with newborn care at deliveries, providing immediate care and support to newborns during and after delivery.
• Maintain skills in neonatal resuscitation to respond effectively in emergencies.
• Demonstrate assessment skills in high and low-risk obstetrical patients to identify potential risks and health issues.
• Identify and report maternal and newborn problems to the physician promptly.
• Assist with the transfer of newborns to other facilities when indicated, ensuring safe and efficient transfers.
• Accurately identify and band newborns, mothers, and significant others to prevent mix-ups.
• Document all care activities accurately, including band identification numbers in medical records.
• Provide care during obstetrical surgical procedures, assisting in the Labor & Delivery Operating Suite.
• Perform intraoperative and post-anesthesia care according to established standards.
• Conduct steam sterilization processing for instruments and supplies, ensuring all sterilization parameters are met.
• Provide emotional support for grieving parents, offering compassionate support and connecting them with appropriate support groups.
• Educate and support families about newborn care, health conditions, and post-discharge care.
