Job summary

Atlantic Constructors Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer - Trimble Designer CAD to support field crews and in-house designers by creating precise field layouts from contract documents, including duct, pipe, elevations, sleeves, and hangers.

Prerequisites include 2–3 years of surveying experience, at least 2 years of CAD experience, proficiency with CAD software and Trimble tools, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), a valid driver's license, and a self-driven work ethic.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in surveying and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
• Two years CAD experience.
• Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Current valid driver's license.
• Good work ethic and accountability for deadlines.
• Self-starter and able to work with others.
• Ability to communicate with others.

Responsibilities

• Assist field crews and in-house designers/detailers by collecting or creating points from contract documents to establish field layout for various purposes (duct, pipe, elevations, sleeves, wall layout, hangers).
• Work in the field environment and travel to job sites as needed.
• Maintain equipment daily and ensure calibration is current.
• Utilize CAD and Trimble software/hardware to produce accurate layouts.

Summary/Objective:

To assist the field crews and our in-house designers and detailers by collecting or creating points from contract documents to establish field layout for various purposes. This could include but not limited to the following... horizontal layout of duct, pipe, conduits, elevations, sleeves, wall layout, hangers etc.

Essential Functions:

• Working in the field environment
• Assisting field crews as well as other customers with layout
• Ability to use CAD software
• Ability to use Trimble software and hardware
• 3D spatial visualization/thinking skills a must
• Must possess strong problem solving skills
• Maintaining equipment on a daily basis and staying current with the annual calibration
• Other duties as assigned

• May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Travel:

• May require travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred:
