Job summary

SPC Mechanical Corporation in Wendell, NC seeks a field-oriented CAD technician to support Trimble-based projects. You will advise Superintendents and Project Managers on pin-pointing pipe systems, hangers, sleeves, and underground piping in the field, and assist with CADD tasks such as placing Trimble points.

The role requires hands-on field work, strong MEP knowledge, and the ability to read drawings and write clear reports, while continuously learning new Trimble and CAD tools to improve

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must operate and understand Trimble equipment.
  • Field work capability as needed.
  • Strong MEP system knowledge and construction awareness.
  • Knowledge of Trimble Total Stations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication with clients and team.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to evolving technology.
  • Proficiency with fractions/ratios in practical tasks.
  • Ability to perform 3D scans using Trimble.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Trimble total station and related equipment on site.
  • Understand project specs, schedule, and sequencing.
  • Assist with CADD tasks including placing Trimble points.
  • Keep supervisors informed of site developments.
  • Maintain organized job folders and files.
  • Provide as-built points and DWG files as needed.
  • Close coordination with Superintendents for point locations.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to drawings and field tasks.
  • Utilize Revit and AutoCAD MEP in project work.

Job Summary

Acts as key technical and implementation source for Trimble for assigned projects and maintains effective relationships with design, project, and client teams. Provides guidance to Superintendents and Project Managers on the location of pipe systems, hangers, sleeves, underground piping, and many more while in the field.

Acts as key technical and implementation source for Trimble for assigned projects and maintains effective relationships with design, project, and client teams. Provides guidance to Superintendents and Project Managers on the location of pipe systems, hangers, sleeves, underground piping, and many more while in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Trimble total station operation.
  • Complete understanding of job specs, schedule, and construction sequencing.
  • Possible CADD work involves the placing of Trimble points.
  • Aid in keeping the Trimble Manager in the loop on what is happening on site.
  • Maintain and file all jobs in organized folders.
  • Provide as-built points and DWG files back to coordination.
  • Provide Superintendents with locations of certain points in the field.
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
  • Makes any adjustments or changes necessary or desired.
  • Uses computer assisted drafting and design (CADD) equipment and software – Revit, AutoCAD MEP.
Qualifications
  • Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to operate and understand Trimble equipment.
  • Be capable of working in the field and performing field tasks when required to.
  • Ability demonstrates high level of MEP system knowledge, construction techniques and special awareness.
  • Knowledge of Trimble Total Stations and their abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to write routine daily reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to construct informative and organized emails.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to learn and evolve with the progression of technology.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to perform 3D scans using Trimble.
Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Capable of standing 8 to 10 hours a day. Can easily climb ladders or stairs.
