The Layout/Field Engineer will be responsible for performing precise field layouts using Hilti Total Stations and ensuring all dimensions, elevations, and alignments are accurately established and maintained throughout the project lifecycle. They will oversee layout activities in collaboration with the field foreman, validate dimensions against project drawings, and proactively identify and resolve any discrepancies prior to execution. This role requires maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality, using data surveying software to support efficient and correct installations. The engineer will also monitor quality levels during construction, communicate layout plans clearly to crews, and ensure that all work is completed in alignment with project specifications and timelines.

• Operate and manage Hilti Total Stations for all layout and surveying tasks.
• Utilize surveying and data software (e.g., AutoCAD, ProCore, Hilti PROFIS, or similar) to execute accurate layouts.
• Collaborate closely with project foremen and field crews to ensure alignment and understanding of layout requirements.
• Validate and verify dimensions, elevations, and alignments on-site prior to and during construction activities.
• Identify discrepancies or conflicts in construction drawings, and proactively resolve issues before execution.
• Monitor quality levels in field operations and ensure that layouts are completed to project specifications.
• Maintain meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring all work aligns with contract documents and design intent.
• Communicate layout plans clearly and efficiently to teams across disciplines.
• Document layout information and as-built conditions as needed for progress tracking and project records.
• Assist in establishing benchmarks, control points, and coordinate systems for job sites.
• Support preconstruction and planning teams with layout input when required.

Qualifications

• 3 - 5 years of hands‑on experience in field engineering, surveying, and layout on large‑scale commercial construction projects, or similar experience.
• Proficient in the use of Hilti Total Station systems and associated layout tools/software.
• Strong knowledge of data surveying software and interpretation of digital construction documents.
• In‑depth understanding of construction principles, practices, and sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills – able to convey technical information clearly to team members at all levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with BIM coordination tools is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple layout tasks with minimal supervision.
