Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking a Horticultural Attendant to maintain grounds across campus. You will operate riding and push mowers, trimmers, blowers, and related equipment, with duties including pruning, chemical spraying, mulching, and trash removal.

Ability to work in adverse weather, overtime, and weekends is required. Qualifications include one year of groundskeeping experience or six semester hours in plant science/landscape study, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• One year of experience or training in farming, the care and maintenance of trees and shrubs, or groundskeeping.
• Six semester hours in a plant science or landscape field of study.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Operate power riding mower, trimmer, edger, blower, hedger and related equipment to maintain grounds and entrances.
• Assist arboriculture with pruning, debris removal and chemical spraying.
• Apply weed/pest control, fertilize soils, mulch beds, and maintain interior plants.
• Assist with irrigation, digging, grading, drain basin cleaning and minor concrete work.
• Inspect mobile equipment, change blades/tires, and perform preventative maintenance.
• Support during special events with litter control and cleanup.
