Job summary

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office is seeking Deputy Sheriff Cadets who are currently enrolled in a Law Enforcement Academy. Cadets will be onboarded as Deputy Sheriff after graduation and passing the Florida State exam.

Prior academy sponsorship opportunities are described for cadets to obtain Florida certification. The position includes a starting salary of $60,000 annually with educational incentives and potential bonuses based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Two years combination experience in post-secondary education, military, corrections, or law enforcement or two years post high school full time employment with a single employer.

Responsibilities

• Pursue and effect the immediate apprehension and arrest of suspects.
• Investigate complaints and take appropriate law enforcement action.
• Provide information and guidance to citizens when possible.
• Deter crimes and detain criminals while maintaining safety and professional conduct.
• Maintain reports and complete them as required by policy.
• Testify in court or depositions as necessary.
• Conduct in-depth investigations independently or as part of a team.
• Maintain familiarity with county boundaries and relevant laws.
