Job summary

Rivierre Recruit seeks a litigation-focused attorney with 2+ years of civil litigation or appellate experience. The role offers hands-on motion work and opportunities to participate in appellate matters alongside seasoned practitioners.

You will draft pretrial and post-trial motions, contribute to trial documents, and support strategy across trial and appeal stages in a hybrid, remote-friendly environment with offices in California.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of civil litigation, law and motion, or appellate experience.
• JD and active California State Bar membership in good standing.
• Strong research, writing and analytical skills.
• Law review, judicial clerkship or externship experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft pretrial motions and oppositions, including pleading challenges, discovery motions, and dispositive motions.
• Prepare trial motions and documents, including motions in limine, trial briefs, pocket briefs, jury instructions and verdict forms.
• Draft post-trial motions, including motions for new trial and attorney’s fees.
• Handle appellate matters and writs, with the opportunity to argue appeals alongside experienced appellate practitioners.
• Research complex legal issues and advise trial attorneys and clients on litigation and appellate strategy.

Mid-sized defense-side litigation practice with offices across California and a hybrid, remote-friendly setup. You’ll join a dedicated law and motion and appellate team that the firm’s trial lawyers lean on for their sharpest written advocacy, so your work directly shapes strategy from the first pleading through trial and appeal. It’s a great seat for a strong writer who wants deep motion experience without carrying a full litigation caseload, along with a clear path into appellate argument.
