LAUNDRY ATTENDANTDepartment: HousekeepingReports To: Executive Housekeeper / Housekeeping ManagerEmployment Status: Hourly / Non-ExemptProperty: Marriott-Branded HotelPOSITION SUMMARYThe Laundry Attendant is responsible for maintaining a consistent supply of clean, fresh, and properly processed linens and towels for hotel operations. This position supports the Housekeeping Department by ensuring all laundry is washed, dried, folded, stored, and distributed according to hotel standards.The Laundry Attendant is expected to maintain a clean and organized laundry area, operate laundry equipment safely, and contribute to a positive guest experience by ensuring hotel linens meet established cleanliness and quality standards.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSSort soiled linens, towels, and other laundry according to established procedures.Load and operate commercial washers and dryers safely and efficiently.Use appropriate laundry chemicals and follow established chemical-handling procedures.Dry, fold, organize, and store linens according to hotel standards.Inspect clean laundry for stains, damage, excessive wear, or other quality concerns.Rewash or remove items from circulation when they do not meet quality standards.Maintain adequate levels of clean linen for Housekeeping and other hotel departments.Assist with the distribution and collection of linens as needed.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room, equipment, storage areas, and work surfaces.Clean lint traps and complete routine cleaning of laundry equipment as directed.Immediately report malfunctioning equipment, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages to management.Follow proper procedures for handling chemicals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).Follow hotel safety, sanitation, loss-prevention, and emergency procedures.Maintain appropriate inventory controls and help minimize linen loss or damage.Assist the Housekeeping team with additional duties when business needs require.Maintain professional and respectful communication with coworkers, supervisors, management, and guests.Follow all property policies, procedures, grooming standards, and attendance expectations.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe employee must be able to:Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the scheduled shift.Bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, and perform repetitive movements.Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull laundry and supplies.Lift approximately 25–50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.Push and maneuver laundry carts.Work in an environment that may be warm, humid, and exposed to laundry chemicals and commercial equipment.Reasonable accommodations may be provided to qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with applicable law.QUALIFICATIONSPrevious hotel, housekeeping, laundry, or related experience preferred but not required.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.Dependable attendance and punctuality.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, based on hotel business needs.SERVICE & PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSThe Laundry Attendant is expected to demonstrate reliability, teamwork, attention to detail, workplace safety, and a commitment to maintaining the cleanliness and presentation standards expected within a Marriott-branded hotel environment.Employees must comply with all hotel and management-company policies and procedures.
