Job summary

Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club is seeking a Laundry Attendant to ensure washing and drying of linens in a safe, efficient manner, balancing workload across the laundry operation.

Responsibilities include operating machines with proper safety precautions, maintaining a clean work area, loading/unloading washers and dryers, and performing steaming/ironing of items along with other duties as assigned by the Executive Housekeeper.

Qualifications

• Able to read and understand SDS sheets and recognize precautions for each chemical used.
• Able to read and understand machine operating directions and identify malfunctioning equipment.
• Able to identify when Softrol Injector system is not working and respond appropriately.
• Ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with team.

Job description

This position ensures the washing and drying of linens takes place in a safe and efficient manner, in order to effectively balance the workload throughout the Laundry Operation of Orchid Island.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

include the following, but not limited to:

• Follows directions and safety precautions while operating machines and using appropriate cleaning chemicals.
• Monitors all machinery carts, bags and rail support structure at all times for safety hazards and maintenance problems.
• Ensures wash area is clean and organized.
• Loads washers/dryers .
• Unloads washers/dryers into laundry carts in safe manner.
• Properly steams/irons clean laundry items.
• Performs other housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Executive Housekeeper.

Qualifications:

• One year of comparable work preferred.
• Must be able to read, comprehend, and communicate basic English.
• Must be able to legally drive company issued golf cart.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Able to read and understand SDS sheets and recognizes precautions for each authorized chemical that may be used
• Able to read and understand directions for operating machines and recognizes when a machine is not functioning properly
• Able to identify when Softrol Injector system is not working properly, and react accordingly
• Ability to multi-task
• Maintains constant communication with Lead, Soil Sorter, Engineer Host and Manager as to which linen items are needed to fill daily demands
• Maintain constant oral and written communication
• Willing to work independently with minimal supervision

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling. Frequent repetitive motions.
• Continuous standing and walking.
• Job has the potential to expose the employee to human blood pathogens or infectious materials.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

The pay range for this role is:

15 - 15 USD per hour (Orchid Main Account)
