Job summary

Houston Marriott North is seeking a Laundry Associate to ensure efficient retrieval, processing and distribution of hotel laundry for guests. You will operate ironing and folder machines, fold and stack articles by type and size, and maintain inventory of supplies and discarded items.

Responsibilities include monitoring machinery, applying proper cleaning chemicals per OSHA rules, and ensuring a clean, organized work area.

• Remove lint and debris from dryer filters per procedures.
• Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
• Check working condition and cleanliness of laundry machinery.
• Monitor usage of chemicals and water to maximize conservation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas; restock for next shift.
• Turn in lost and found items and guest room keys.
• Follow company policies, safety and security procedures and rules.
• Know department fire prevention and emergency procedures; use protective equipment.
• Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss.
• Provide a safe work environment by following all safety rules.
• Maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per handbook; perform related duties as requested.
• Assist other housekeeping personnel when needed.

JOB SUMMARY

Assure efficient retrieval, processing, and distribution of laundry to provide laundry services to our guests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Sort all stained/damaged items and determine status for rewash or discard; maintain continuous inventory of discarded items.


• Operate the ironing and folder machines according to specifications, while processing cleaned articles through the machines.


• Fold cleaned articles and stack into designated amounts by type and size. Place stacks in specified areas of distribution.


• Remove lint and debris from dryer filters as specified in departmental procedures.


• Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.


• Check the working condition and cleanliness of laundry machinery.


• Monitor usage of chemicals and water to maximize consumption.


• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout shift.


• Restock work areas for next shift as assigned.


• Turns in all lost and found items and all guest room keys.


• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.


• Follows safety and security procedures and rules.


• Knows department fire prevention and emergency procedures.


• Utilizes protective equipment.


• Reports unsafe conditions to management.


• Reports accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to management.


• Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.


• All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. (Specific standards outlined in team member handbook).


• Perform any related duties as requested by supervisor/manager.


• Assists other Housekeeping Personnel when need.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to Lift, Push & Pull up to (50) pounds required.


• Frequent bending while loading/unloading washers/dryers, sorting linen and folding.


• Continuous movement throughout department.


• Standing is required during the entire shift.


• Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
