Job summary

Atria Senior Living's Evergreen Valley community in San Jose, CA seeks a Laundry Attendant to support residents and keep linens and textiles clean and fresh. You will operate washers, dryers, irons, and related equipment while maintaining a safe, organized laundry area and assisting with other duties as assigned.

The role emphasizes reliability, ability to follow instructions, and flexibility to work various schedules. Training is provided to ensure quality service and resident comfort.

Qualifications

• Basic numeracy and ability to read simple text and models.
• Ability to follow simple, one- or two-step instructions.
• Willingness to work varied schedules and shifts.
• Comfort with operating laundry equipment and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs all laundry duties: wash, dry, iron and fold resident laundry and linens, and distribute items.
• Fold and hang laundry, replace and hang draperies, change beds, and keep the laundry area clean and safe.
• Disinfects equipment, stocks supplies, and transports waste as needed.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete all Atria specified training programs.
• Able to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
• Able to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Able to perform these operations using units of United States currency and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Able to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
• Able to work various schedules and shifts as needed.
• Able to safely perform duties using related commercial laundry equipment and materials such as washers, dryers, irons, etc.

Responsibilities

Laundry Attendant Services

• Performs all laundry duties including:
  • washing, drying, and ironing resident laundry and community linens and textiles in provided appliances
  • folding and/or hanging laundry appropriately
  • distributing laundered articles and linens
  • replacing and hanging draperies
  • changing beds
  • mopping laundry room floor and washing walls regularly
  • washing windows around the community as requested
• Ensures resident’s laundry is kept separated and is not mixed with other residents.
• Keeps laundry area maintained in a safe, clean and good working condition.
• Disinfects and sterilizes equipment and supplies.
• Stocks laundry and cleaning cart with supplies.
• Empties wastebaskets, and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

The wage range for this position is $18.45/hr - $22.14/hr, dependent on prior work history and experience
