Job summary

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Laundry Attendant to clean and store linens, manage guest laundry, and maintain public areas. You will learn to operate laundry equipment, handle chemicals, and ensure timely fulfillment of hotel linen needs.

The role requires basic reading/writing and math, some laundry experience, and English; you should be able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and work evenings or weekends as needed. Competitive benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Receive soiled linens by bag or cart; sort by kind, color and soil level; inspect items.
• Operate washers/dryers per guidelines; ensure chemicals added correctly.
• Fold and store clean linens.
• Report repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Monitor supplies and minimize waste in laundry facility.
• Sort and record discarded linen; report damages or loss.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication.
• Receive and deliver guest laundry; check bills and receipts.

Job overview

Clean and or store linens/uniforms in a timely, organized manner to ensure that hotel's laundry and linen needs are met. Maintain cleanliness in the hotel's public areas. Complete turndown assignments and clean guest rooms as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive soiled linens by bag, or cart from the floors.Sort all articles by kind, color and degree of soil.Inspect all laundry and linens and record all damaged or stained items.

• Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturers’ guidelines.Ensure necessary chemicals are added in the correct quantities prior to wash cycles.

• Fold clean linens and store as appropriate.

• Report to supervisor needed repairs or unsafe conditions.

• Monitor and control supplies, and minimize waste within laundry facility.

• Sort and record discarded linen into categories.Report damages or loss of linen to supervisor.

• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other department

• Receive, check and deliver guest laundry in to guest rooms. Check bills and submit to supervisor for posting. Keep and organize all receipts.

• Report, turn in, and/or log any lost and found items according to established procedures

• Complete turndown service on a nightly basis

• Clean guest rooms as needed

• Maintain cleanliness in the hotel's public areas, including, but not limited to, lobby/reception areas, hotel exterior, banquet floors, business centre, public and employee washrooms, elevators, pool area and fitness centre.

• Receive and respond to all guest calls and deliver guest items

• Assist with other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum: Basic reading, writing, and math skills.Some laundry experience and ability to speak English preferred.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

• Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds and pushing and or pulling approximately 100 pounds

• Frequently standing up and moving about the work area

• Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility

• Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling

• Frequently working in areas of high temperatures around heavy equipment

Other:

• Communication skills are utilized a when interacting other employees and supervisor.

• Reading and writing abilities and basic math skills are utilized when determining amounts of chemicals to treat laundry and stains and logging appropriate poundage.

• Must be able to work late evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
