Job summary

The Whitehall Hotel in Chicago is seeking a Laundry Attendant to clean and prepare hotel linens to the highest standards, sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and folding them for timely distribution to hotel departments.

You will operate laundry equipment, monitor performance, report malfunctions, keep the area organized and safe, and maintain a professional image with a friendly, courteous demeanor to support guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1 year of work experience or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of general laundry cleaning principles and operation of standard laundry equipment.

Responsibilities

• Sort, pre-treat, wash, dry, press, and fold hotel linens to departments as needed.
• Ensure washers and dryers operate properly, and informs management or maintenance of any malfunctions or problems.
• Maintain linen cart and supplies in a neat and organized manner.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of general laundry cleaning principles, use of laundry products, and operation of standard laundry equipment.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to communicate effectively with guests and associates.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
