Job summary

St. Sophia Health & Rehab in Florissant, MO is seeking a dedicated Laundry Assistant to join our caring team. You will support daily laundry operations to ensure clean resident garments and linens, while upholding safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• Must maintain a valid email address and phone number for communication.
• Ability to communicate in English in writing and verbally with staff, patients, and families.
• Lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
• Able to read equipment operation manuals.
• Follow infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Load articles into washer and dryer.
• Soak contaminated articles per policy.
• Sort and fold articles by ID and type.
• Lubricate machines.
• Mend torn articles and count items.
• Iron required items.
• Read and follow manuals.
• Maintain sanitation and safety standards.
• Handle a variety of tasks in standardized situations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions of Laundry Assistant:

• Loads articles into washer and dryer
• Soaks contaminated articles as per policy
• Sort dried articles according to identification numbers and type. Fold and place items into appropriate bins
• Lubricate machines
• Mends torn articles. Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry lists.
• Iron required items
• Mixes dyes and bleaches according to formula. Dyes and bleaches specific articles
• Able to read and understand equipment operation manuals
• Performs all aspects of duties and responsibilities in manner that optimizes resident safety
• Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. Assures that sanitation and quality standards are met; including to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions
• Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
• Follow ALL infection control procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications of Laundry Assistant:

• High School Diploma or general equivalency preferred
• 1 year of experience is preferred
• Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication.
• Ability to communicate in English in writing and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, patient families, and any outside customer
