Savant Senior Living is seeking a Laundry Assistant to ensure the timely and hygienic cleaning of residents’ clothing, bedding, and linens. The role collaborates with staff to support residents’ comfort and well-being in a care facility.

Responsibilities include sorting, laundering, folding, stain treatment, and returning items to rooms, while following PPE guidelines and safety protocols. Prior experience in laundry or healthcare is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance required.
• First Aid/ CPR Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous laundry experience is a plus.
• Experience in assisted living/health care is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collect, sort, and launder residents’ clothing, bed linens, towels, and items with proper color/fabric separation.
• Fold, iron, and return laundered items to residents’ rooms neatly.
• Identify and treat stains or damage promptly.
• Operate laundry machines per manufacturer instructions and facility protocols.
• Maintain and check laundry equipment for good working order.
• Report malfunctions or repairs to management.
• Follow care instructions to preserve item longevity.
• Use PPE and safety precautions when handling soiled laundry.
• Liaise with residents/families about laundry preferences.
• Collaborate with housekeeping and care staff for timely laundry collection/delivery.
• Adhere to all health and safety protocols.
• Keep laundry area clean and organized; manage supplies and notify when running low.
• Handle residents’ personal items carefully to avoid loss.
• Perform other duties as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laundry Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the residents’ clothing, bedding, and other linens are cleaned and maintained in a timely and hygienic manner. The role involves close collaboration with other staff to ensure the comfort and well-being of the residents within the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect, sort, and launder all residents’ clothing, bed linens, towels, and other items, ensuring that colors and fabrics are appropriately separated.
• Fold, iron, and return laundered items to the respective resident’s room in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Identify and treat stains or damage on clothing or linens promptly.
• Operate laundry machines following the manufacture’s instructions and facility protocols.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on laundry equipment to ensure it’s in good working condition.
• Report any malfunctions or needs for repairs to the facility management.
• Ensure that all clothing is laundered according to care instructions, ensuring the longevity of items, and avoiding damage.
• Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety precautions when handling soiled laundry.
• Liaise with residents and/or their families regarding specific laundry preferences or concerns.
• Collaborate with the housekeeping and care staff to ensure timely collection and delivery or laundry.
• Adhere to all facility health and safety protocols.
• Ensure that the laundry area is kept clean, organized, and free from hazards.
• Keep track of laundry supplies and notify the manager when supplies are running low.
• Handle residents’ personal items with care, ensuring nothing is lost or misplaced.
• Perform other duties as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The incumbent in this position will not have any supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

• At least 18 years of age.
• Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance.
• Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified)
• Special skills needed to meet client needs [California Code of Regulations Sections: 85065(f)/87411(g)]
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in laundry services or a similar role is a plus.
• Experience in assisted living, health care, or a similar environment is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents and staff.
• Ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, carrying, and working in various weather conditions.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
• Knowledge of laundry equipment, products, and care labels.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work flexible schedule, including weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Physical ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50lbs.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods
